Browser Compatibility
After you've built your website, found a domain name, and chosen a hosting company, you'll need to make sure that everyone can see your site – and I mean, everyone. Some sites simply don't work on certain browsers, but that's not a mistake that you can make these days.
Here's how to make sure your site shows up no matter what browser viewers are using.
Use the Same Markup
This is the simplest way to make sure that your site looks good on all browsers: use a markup that's universal. Back in the day, this was HTML 4.0.1, but the new markup to use is HTML5. So, just make sure that you use HTML5 when building your site, and your site should appear across all browser options.
Testing It Out
For some reasons, many website developers never test out a new browser compatibility option. Some assume that it's just all going to work out, but this is very rarely the case. The reality is that you have to test out your site numerous times in numerous ways to make sure that it all goes together.
I'm point out, too, that Chrome isn't the only browser out there. Make sure to test for various browsers including Explorer, Firefox, and whatever else you find. Sometimes, a new site visitor will have a hard time accessing your site because its not compatible with the browser that they are using. But, not everyone thinks about using a different browser. Unless your audience is tech-savvy, they may simply turn away and find a different site. You don't want that to happen!
Hiring a Developer
It's almost always a risk to outsource your site development. But, if you have to, consider hiring outside help. Sometimes, you just can't make everything happen the way that you want it to, and that means that you need to admit that you require some assistance. If you aren't sure how to make your site compatible with most browsers, ask for help or hire someone that knows.
Believe me, one of the worst decisions you can make is to assume that your site will work across the board. This is rarely true, and it will hurt your business in the long run! Instead of assuming, be certain that your site simply works no matter what browser someone is using.
Browser Compatibility: Hosting Matters Too
If you're sure that your site is compatible with all browsers but it's still not working, check with your host. Sometimes, a server overload can lead to your site being down. If you are getting a lot of customer complaints about a site not loading, this is why.
