This is most popular blogging system in use more than 60 million of websites. WordPress is based on PHP and MySQL database is used to store the information. Users can install and switch between themes allow users to change the functions of the website. Each and every theme should be designed using structured PHP, CSS, and HTML.

Joomla is a Content Management System (CMS) used to publish web content. It is built on web application framework named modal-view-controller. Joomla is a web-based written in PHP, uses OOP techniques. For data storage MySQL, MS SQL or PostgreSQL database are used. Many features are included such as RSS feeds, page caching, news flashes, polls, blogs and support for the language. The extensions of Joomla increase the functionality of Joomla websites. Five types of extensions are there: modules, components, templates, plug-in, and languages. Each extension has own function.

Drupal has standard release known as Drupal core which contains basic features include user account registration and maintenance, RSS feeds, menu management, page layout customization, taxonomy and system administration. Drupal installation can serve as a single or multi-user blog, a simple website, an internet forum and community website providing user-generated content.

Conclusion:

To summarize above description of three platforms we can say that WordPress platform is mostly used to make blogs, corporate websites, and small-medium sized websites. Joomla is used in e-commerce and social networking sites. Drupal is used for all sizes/ types of websites.
